That Ideal Student

Life is a long learning process and so we all remain students..forever!But in this journey we meet people..of our kind,of not our kind nonetheless, we remember them.Whether we like it or not,to some extent our journey is always influenced by fellow travellers.
So who is considered a perfect student? What are the qualities??The reply would depend on who you are....

PARENT:

Phew!!Ideal students no more exist. Our times were glorious! We didn't waste our time roaming around like this.If we had to achieve something then we would work very hard for it.Ideal students are those who are obedient.Yes its difficult even to make our own children listen to us, we can Imagine the plight of poor teachers. If I had my way then I would make my son/ daughter realise their responsibilities.Study and work very hard!go to college, attain knowledge, discuss with teachers, friends, lecturers, visit libraries often and come straight back home!
NO bunking classes,Roaming aimlessly and spending money without the need!!

TEACHER:
Those who are serious about what they want in life and are sincere are Ideal students.I have no clue whether I will ever get to teach such a student.Teachers should be respected. They should know how difficult it is to teach. We are here to guide them.If our guidance is taken, they can do wonders in life.He/She shouldn't bunk classes, must submit assignment on time etc etc. After all we want nothing but their well being!

'A' GRADE STUDENT:

An Ideal student scores high marks.He/she never wastes time and is always doing something related to studies. No pending work for the best grades.Completely competitive and tries to top.OK..no more..I have to study now!Bye!

'AVERAGE' STUDENT:
Oh C'mon!!Gimme a break!!Are nerds ideal students??Well I don't want to be one. When will we enjoy life if we immerse ourselves into books???This will go on forever! So does that mean we must struggle all the time??Who said we are  not serious about what we wanna be!And not bunking? You mean to say we gotta sit in those dreary classes where lecturers go on and on without any interaction? Why will we attend it when we find it boring?Plus its considered so uncool to study all the time. What will my friends think of me?The last thing i want  is to be labelled as 'geek'.History has proved that we are as successful as our 'A" grade counterparts. If we are getting everything what we want then why is everyone complaining? Its my life and I will live it my way!I don't give a damn about expectations.I will end up with what is destined for me!So why the fuss??

Well..you might agree on some views and disagree on the others. If you look beyond the stereotypes you will find that anything so idealistic doesn't exist and something close would be an optimum blend of it all.

Final say..You know what you are,who you are and what is the best for you!Even without perfection things can be achieved while striving for perfection!!So shall we chuck the 'idealism'??

  1. Prateek: Very well said indeed.....from my side would have added for the average student: Whenever he/she sits in class theres a 1/100 probability that he would be actually listening to the lecturer

  3. Good post :) And yeah, I do agree, u can't have an "ideal" student because there is not ONE goal that students look forward to achieving. Hence "ideal" is not defined in the first place!

But still, I would define ideal as someone who tries at every opportunity to understand the world around him/her. :)

  4. hey, great post! :)loved ur conclusion especially!
if v start paying heed 2 the idealistic principles of each person's perspective..lik the ones u have described above and many more..v may end up in total chaos.so its always better 2 stick 2 our own principles,AS LONG AS V R SURE ITS RIGHT :)

  8. ideal gases are defined for easy calculations. ideal students are defined for easy scolding.

indeed in our system none of us want to be d stereotyped ideal student, bt wat if d ideal stud is defined as d one whose good at what he likes?

thus it narrows dwn to hw its defined, wch u hv elegantly brought out.

    good post:):)

A grade students believe: Work hard, enjoy harder, party hardly!!
Low grade students believe: party hard, enjoy harder, work hardly!!
Average students have their own versions !!!!
