Coding Woes

Alright..this is going to be a sadistic post. Brace yourself up for my endless ranting :D

I am quite shamelessly declaring that I am really bad at programming though I have kinda studied it for an year(I would rather use stronger words but that will spoil the 'decorum' of the blog! :D).But the saddest part is..it is very important that I improve myself not just for my degree and grades but also for my future. Programming is everywhere..take up whatever field you want, you cannot steer clear of computers (except arts maybe!).

Firstly..why is it one of my woes??Though I had a very vague idea of how programming would be,when I entered first year of college it was literally thrown at me! It was like.."You have 3 months to master C". I freaked out. But I somehow managed thanks to a very cooperative teacher and friends who are awesome at it!
Its not like one of those subjects you just have to understand and write an exam. Its real life, and its not enough if you know the definitions and uses. Writing a program especially an efficient one needs lots of brains! No wonder techies get paid so much!!

Secondly...why am I so worried about it since I have a choice to chuck it right out of the window and carry on with the rest. Its because I share a love-hate relationship with it! I am enticed by it. The power of coding amazes me. That feeling of euphoria you get when your program runs is inexplicable! Doubles if it seems like you have done better than your friends ( unfortunately such situations have been very few! :D ).But most of the times my brain seems to have frozen. Syntactically things are fine but logically there is always some error. I am the sole person responsible for all the mess I am in so I don't even get to blame anyone for it.. damn it! :D :P

Ultimately what am I left with? I can't let go of it and say 'all is well'. I  must take great efforts to polish my 'logic' bone (if there is any! :D), hang out more with geeks and sit with a compiler (The best teacher you can have!) more often. Till then it is going to be the unattainable reward without which you can live but don't want to! :D

Kudos to all the brilliant programmers out there! I revere you guys!! :)

Would you be my friend ?

No points for guessing why this particular post came up! I have been planning to write this since a long time.Apologies for this long a gap.
We must be definitely bored of the cliche "Man is a social being" and that "Friends complete your life". I do not want to repeat the oft mention things about how precious and wonderful friendship is. Sure we do get reminders in the form of mails and forwarded SMSes some of which are really good and rest are boring that make you yawn.
Each one of us perceives friendship in a different way.The degree of attachment too is not the same. The numbers vary and so does every other thing that matters in this beautiful relationship.Friendship is the most non demanding relationship ever. There are lesser obligations but unknowingly more adjustment and compromise compared to anything else.It has reached such a state where just anything can be called friendship..be it the mother-son bond, sibling love or matrimony .While some of us like to draw boundaries and don't want to attach the same label to all of it, the others will just not mind what relationship they have until and unless its all working fine.

They say that as you grow older, the number of your friends decreases but the affection grows nevertheless. But as you change schools and colleges there emerges a totally new thing- friend circles. School friends in one, college ones in another, office colleagues and so on. However unsocial you are you will have different groups of friends. This brings another uncomfortable issue.. that of what is bound to happen when you have to entertain two circles of friends simultaneously.I have been in tight spots  a couple of times and believe me, you must be on your toes to see to it that none of them feel left out.Even better is  to avoid it!.

Woah wait!! your 'virtual' friends are around you, all the time-liking your statuses, photos, sharing links on your wall and chatting! But will they help you out if you are feeling down?forget that..will they at least speak to you properly if you happen to meet them 'offline'??Think about it!

But however large the number of your friends, you will have a few close ones with whom you can share absolutely anything on earth. No matter what you will still keep in touch with them. These are your precious ones.It so happens that we do not choose with whom we get closer, it just happens.

Now to the funniest thing..the typical stereotype of 'a girl and a guy can never remain just friends'. Nothing can be more laughable than that.Unfortunately  many people care yet to come out of this notion.According to me its a load of 'BULL****'. :D I have met people who say..'you never know when its love and when just friendship .Especially if it is someone close to you all your feelings can change'. To this I don't really know what to say!

There is no need to define friendship.I feel nobody must even try to.It means a lot of things at the same time.We can all take a plunge without fearing the consequences (.there aren't bound to be any :D )Meeting new people, making new friends, holding on to the old ones is a necessity. Not just something you can't live without but something you will not want to live without.
I'm darn sure your friends mean a lot to you and so do mine to me.Thanks to the lord for all the beautiful friends I have.Take care of yours ! :)

Lokpal Bill

I have kept the title simple since nothing fancy is required to pull people's attention towards this! But in this post I won't be putting forth my views but a mere report on what Dr. Ashwin Mahesh ,co-ordinator for IAC Bangalore spoke at the Gokhale Institute of Public Affairs whom I had a chance to listen to. I am not writing this just to tell you that I had been there but that he offered a brilliant and practical insight into the Jan Lokpal which is definitely worth sharing. Of course it is not going to be a detailed report but points that specially caught my attention.
It is all fine to say that we need an anti corruption body but  there are a few difficulties that will be faced . Most of the staff in this body will be deputed rather than independent. Now how can anybody expect a person to investigate the department he actually belongs to when he knows that he has to go back as soon as his term is over. Also it is very difficult for immediate investigation to be launched since powers given to them are not sufficient. Even if they do find culprits, they can only 'recommend' something rather than take action!! :D

All our elected representatives like to remind us that they are elected but they seem to be forgetting that they are our representatives! They keep harping about how the Parliament is 'Supreme' but forget who helped make it.Our so-called 'supreme' Parliament hasn't voted down a bill since 27 years!! And once 18 bills have been passed in 2 minutes!! a record time indeed!Yet they have been  'unable' to pass the Lokpal bill though it has been introduced more than 8 times. That too a version that is so dilute.  All so clearly shows how 'serious' the government is in policy making and how much our dear MPs know the bills they passed. Most of them don't even read it and just say 'aye' since their parties ask them to.

There are a few fundamental questions we need to ask :
- What is corruption?
- Who should be the  Lokpal?
-Can Lokpal launch suo moto investigation?
-Can it have its own machinery and finances?
-Can it initiate prosecution?
-Should IAS and IPS officers be punished?
-Should the judiciary be covered?
-Should the prime minister be covered?
-Should legislative conduct be covered?

The government and the civil society have answers to these or rather we must probably call them opinions. Some of them are being debated upon in the drafting committee and some of them ignored for their own good. There will be new questions each time and answers may not be immediate or very satisfactory. Unfortunately what the five ministers call 'government opinion' is not so. In fact most of the MPs are not even bothered about answering these since all they have to do is either say 'aye' or 'nay' whatever their party tells them to! And they go about questioning if the civil society members 'represent' the society! Is this democratic??

Now most of the people ask "how is it going to benefit me?" Dr. Ashwin has some very valid points-

* Our representatives will truly become 'public servants'. They will do what they are actually supposed to do..serve people!
*Resources will be used better. People are already thinking about how black money could've been put to use.
*Administrative machinery will become more local which is the need of the day since we interact much more with the local bodies like the RTO rather than the MPs.
*Processes and public services will be more transparent, efficient and easily available.
*Most importantly, It will reinforce the idea that citizens are supreme in a democracy (not the parliament as they claim) which will give people a hope to survive and feel that things are going in the right direction.

A thing to keep in mind is that all the goals are long term and Lokpal is not a quick and magical solution to all the existing problems. But surely we are headed in the right direction!

Corruption saaku
Jan Lokpal beku!

The Semester that was...Part 3

This is intended to be the last part and let me warn you that it is not going to be structured. You will have to find your own way through the maze of memories and if you can, organise them and pack them nicely in your hearts!

It all started in the old sports complex. And it started right from me learning to hold the table tennis bat to making  myself the laughing stock of the place by my pathetic game! Thank god the 'pros' didn't mind it much as it gave them much relief from their 'oh i wanna win..or damn! thats the game point he made' schedule :D. I must say that even after their patient training, I still remain as bad as ever! probably it is going to take much more time than anyone thought it would! Just that one game of carom was enough to prove my mettle to all..what say?? :P
It was a funny feeling  to join the bandwagon of guys who were thrown out in every class of Electricals! Then I realised why there was a smile that seemed pasted on their faces whenever they went out! I spent the rest of the double class outside, attending dance practice and fooling around. Initially I tried getting back into the class but the teacher promised me attendance (which he did give ultimately!! ) So I saw no point in staying! :D
Then came a whole load of birthday parties ! Right from going to Resh's house to surprise her to Vippu's place as a surprise for her's and Sushma's birthday. These days having a surprise party is no longer a surprise! But the fun we have changes every time. Sushma, Chaitra and Niranjan too got their share of birthday surprises..hope they enjoyed it!
The world- cup fnals has been  the most discussed topic of the year.We all decided to watch the match together  but it turned out that we had a match of our own! :D Painted faces were just for the pictures. But obviously everybody watched the last gripping part.
Now coming to the studies part! Given that I had a hopeless teacher for electricals, I decided to take the help of my friends at PESIT who were done with their physics cycle. Harish and Manoj..I owe a lot to you guys for coming over and teaching me. If I get an S grade, it'll be because of you! :)
If I have forgotten anything to include, it is just that in all the excitement of writing posts. Please don't be offended and point it out by commenting..people will still get to know!:)
On the concluding note it has not been only happy as been projected. I had my share of very nasty fights ( most of which I started) , my close friends' group almost fell apart , people fought and made up etc etc. Might seem like regular affair but for me it was quite taxing at times. There has never been a  time with a greater emotional rigmarole for me.But as they say all is well that ends well! It has ended well and is signifying a new and exciting beginning..just waiting for all of it! I believe that bouquets or brickbats, whatever comes my way must have something to teach me, something to make me a better person and bring beautiful people to my life....

The Semester that was...Part 2

Campaigning and the rest! :P
We were pulled to publicize about  the science fest in other colleges. After the PESIT principal rudely threw us out by asking us to go back to college and attend classes (something that our very own teachers have never told us to ), we were welcomed by BIT. I decided that I am definitely not fit for campaigning! While Resh, Suhas and Shreyas did it brilliantly. It felt nice to catch up with Rishika and Anisha was such a sweetheart! After the wrap-up, we had a cool outing at that tiny ice cream shop where new  friendship bonds forged. Will forever remember that day...
For the first time, we visited a Newspaper's office and talked to them about them putting up articles about the fest. All the way to Deccan Herald's office on M G Road and back was a little tiring but rewarding nevertheless! Walking long stretches in the hot tiring sun was hard but with friends around, any distance seems short and no journey boring!

Jitters of the first science fest "Genesis'11"
The month of April started with mobilizing people to conduct the first ever science fest of the college. The word soon spread and people were quite enthusiastic. With initial hitches that we experienced, the preparations started in full swing! I  cannot name all the people responsible for making this event a grand success but the student coordinators took up a lot of responsibility on their shoulders, ran pillar to post for sponsorships, organizing, planning and leading us all. I was the in the crossword team an event that went on quite smoothly (finally!). It was a very rewarding experience to set up clues and answers, my very first crossword making that I thoroughly enjoyed. With a few of us working on it, the crossword turned out be pretty good and surprisingly nobody could solve them completely. But the event that stole the show was 'paper presentation'. It had participation from colleges outside Karnataka as well and was lauded by the faculties as the 'Most important event of the fest!'. All the other events- JAM, Quiz, Debate, Dumb charades, treasure hunt , solving the Rubix cube went on really well. The fest was a modest success. At least we laid a foundation for our juniors to conduct many more.

Outing in the rain..
I can bet that nobody is going to forget that day..while it rained so hard that people were scuttling for cover, we dare-devils decided to have fun getting drenched! With 2 umbrellas and an over sized jacket you can as well imagine what protection from rain it offered to 6 people!Splashing around muddy waters, we went to Gopalan Arcade for more fun. Those photos are on Facebook which all of you must have seen anyway. It was just so amazing!!

Getting mock 'Placed'
The second semester was a season of fests. The Department fests came in later ( with no 8th mile in April). It was an extravaganza when four department fests were held simultaneously. The whole college turned into a riot of colour. It amazed us how our seniors cleverly organised the whole thing. Surely we have a thing or two to learn from them.I just decided to participate in an event called 'mock placement' with a few of my friends but it was way too unexpected for me to win the second place shared along with Rakshitha Joshi (Psst..we still have that food coupon! ;) )Winning or no winning the event was a  pointer as to how the  real placements are going to be.But on the flip side, My cell phone ran out of charge, my plans for the day went down in drain and I went home completely tired!! It compensated would you say??

The story of the sem has still not ended..watch out for the last part that'll be more like an amalgam of more such memories. coming soon...:)

The Semester that was...Part 1

Its been a year at RVCE. The last two semesters have just rushed through. I guess the first semester got over with adjustment issues, coping up with the course load, making friends etc. Yet at the end of it there was  some gratification. All of us yearned to come back. We were all hoping for something good..but this good..no.. never expected!
The semester started with a bang! Especially for me.I went to the last bench and my comfort level  with people around just got better. I found some really awesome friends with whom I will happily spend another three years of my life.Love you Sushma , Reshma, Chaitra, Deshmukh, Nair, Suhas and the rest!! :)

Atmatrisha '11
The first event of the semster was "Atmatrisha '11", PESIT's annual cultural fest.It was the first college fest of my life which was a totally different experience. 'Junkyard wars' was where I collaborated with Sush and Resh to make a model out of straw and paper which withstood a weight of 2 kg! (Its great according to me..doesn't matter that we didn't get selected!) .The anthakshari prelims with Resh , Dumcharades with Sush and Resh , and that almost disastrous "Pentathlon" with Suraj were some worth remembering! Not to forget that cultural night with all my lovely friends..dancing away to glory and Niranjan dropping us all home later without telling his mom!!:P

'Genesis' of the science forum
Then we come to know that there is a " Science forum" which is almost defunct and calling for members. Most of us happily jumped in to organise the first function of the year..A speech by Our principal. There was loads of excitement making posters , inviting people , publicising the forum all in the hopes that our college will let us organize a Science Fest and HOD Prateek played the most important role in it!!  After bunking a lot of classes on the pretext of practise, forum work and so on began the onward journey of the forum. On this wayward path I got acquainted with a lot of people from other departments. And now I feel that I know atleast a few people in every class of first year. Well we did manage to pull off a pretty decent event and our teachers were really impressed with it. So we began pressing for a Fest..(More details in the next post!!)

Our "paper presentation"
Thanks to Prateek , we modified our last semester's chemistry seminar to present a paper at the PESIT science fest on 3 different types of batteries renaming it as 'Gen Z batteries' ( The details to the amount of fun we had while preparing for the original seminar will probably constitute another blog entry!!). But we  googled more & understood much more. After all convincing college chem HOD is different from presenting it in front of  a jury ( we almost felt that we fooled him last sem! :D).We went with an intention of checking out how a paper presentation is done and Voila! We end up with the first place which was a pleasant surprise.

Time for some "nautanki"
Meanwhile I auditioned for the "dance team" of the college and got through. It does deserve some mention. But apart from staying for a few practices nothing spectacular happened. There is more time to that lets see..
However those extra curricular activities I enjoyed at school ( after an almost 3 years' break) started coming back in a way I liked. It started with me auditioning for a role in a play my classmate Keshav directed for an Intra collegiate theatre fest called "Coliseum" .Though I was really not up to the mark, I managed to scrap off a decent act of an old lady "Mother Goose" that earned me the title 'Ajji'  :P. I must say that the practice sessions were lots of fun! Only our director had a harrowing time managing us! I proudly say that the audience was in splits with our acts , Shreyas got the best supporting actor award and Keshav got special mention for his direction! Next day too we watched a few plays bunking classes, almost caught by the teacher (she knew us well) and running along corridors..something that'll be remembered for long!! :)

Thats all for this part guys..next post coming soon!

India Against Corruption

Its all over TV, newspapers, blogs, tweets and status updates!!People gathering in large numbers to join in the protest, some fasting, some tweeting, some lauding the efforts of Anna hazare and the rest. All this signals something- that winds of change are blowing over  our beloved country India.
Forgive me because I'm not so politically inclined and can't write well about politics. But whatever I am writing here is just my very own opinion (however badly worded!!).
An event that should have taken place long ago started on April 5 .But better late than never!!It is being termed as India's second war of Independence.People came out on the streets expressing their solidarity with the activists who started the protest. The government tried to put them down offering some small incentives but they were hell bent on having what they wanted! Now is something we all can really look forward to..A corruption free India!

According to me, optimism is the right emotion to have!It did shake people out from their complacent shells making them realize that just accepting the present situation and going with flow will not get them anywhere! There was unity- people from all walks of life joined it.It was largely peaceful and it achieved its goal- of getting the approval for forming a committee consisting of citizens too  for drafting the Lokpal bill.

The real struggle however begins now says our beloved Anna Hazare. How true!!There is no denying the fact that the government will put in as many hurdles as it can it its path till it becomes a law and jails our corrupt politicians! However, our clever politicians will see to it that there are loopholes in the system to ensure their safe escape. So does that mean nothing much can be really done??Will all our struggle and work go down the drain? Will it truly eradicate corruption? These questions linger on and as time comes,we will probably get our answers.

But right now,we have a strong reason to celebrate! There are going to be numerous able heads who can cleverly chalk out the bill so that no one escapes. Its implementation also will be carried out with great supervision.Surely this alone will not work.Till we pledge to stop bribing through our way and stick to ideals thinking of the correct path rather than the easier one, corruption is not going to stop.Might be Utopian to put into practice but if each of do our bit I don't see what can really stop us from being a corrupt nation.

Whatever it may be but our politicians have gotten a strong message that people are the ultimate leaders in a democracy!Jai Ho!!

Fast your way to heath!!

The title might look like a clichéd line from a health and well being magazine but I surely find it true!

Most of us are 'Maa ke Bigde hue laadle' (spoilt kids ).And our mothers and granmothers keep feeding us with dialogues like "C'mon..you are a growing child..you need to eat." ,"Oh!only so much??What is with you girls these days..??" .True that we must have sufficient food in our growing years but that doesn't mean stuffing mouths and stomachs till the extent of bursting!
On the other hand, many starve themselves (not due to non availability of food),or can't eat at the right time owing to work pressures etc.

I believe that I don't have to educate people about eating right (especially when I am not sure whether I am eating right). But I do strongly believe in fasting once in a while!
Arguments against go like this.....There is plenty of food for me to eat,it makes me feel weak, I can't control hunger and so on...

But in support, I can give 3 solid points..

1.It cleanses your stomach and gives your digestive system a rest. You might have  indiscriminately eaten stuff the whole week (or month) .So now is the time to stop it.

2.Apart from health benefits, once you successfully accomplish fasting, you will have something to goad about! There is a sense of satisfaction that is very fulfilling and is a silent proof that you can control your cravings and make your body listen to your mind.

3.Most importantly ,you will know how hurting hunger can be and hopefully feel the agony of billions of people who are hungry all the time.Your heart will go out to them and makes you realize how lucky you are to have that food on your plate. What more, you will think twice about wasting food when millions are dying everyday and your not so favorite food doesn't go to the dustbin.

An overall sense of tranquility and heath engulfs you.Though it is hard to start off ( not just your own problems but also to convince mommy dear ) you can take a step at a time.Start by fasting once a month by possibly consuming some fruits or so and then slowly nothing when you know you are strong enough!

Try it and post your comments..Happy Fasting!!:)

The Kannada Konnection

The post comes at a time when The Kannada Sahitya Sammelana is happening and we are happily sitting at home enjoying a holiday which is actually given for us to visit it.Some of us will scoff at it,some will go and truly enjoy and the rest will not bother about it at all.Not that any of them is wrong as there might not be the interest or the facility to go.Still some might assert that not going will not mean that they aren't 'true Kannadigas at heart'.

This post might come as a surprise from someone who is a Kannadiga and still doesn't very well know how to write(Highlighted by the fact that I got a B grade in Kannada). I am ashamed to admit this unlike a few who think it is 'cool'.And yet I am not angry with the examiners as this can be considered a punishment, a shame.A few might criticize me for having such 'antiquated' thoughts (Not that I really care about it..).But this triggered in me a thought about the various issues circling our language which will surely become extinct if necessary steps are not taken.
So what deters the learning of Kannada??Why is that many people who are Kannadigas ( or having stayed in Karnataka all their lives) don't feel the necessity to learn the language. The major reason according to me is that we feel that when things are getting done without it,there is no use.Bangalore being a cosmopolitan city, any localite will respond if you question them in English,Hindi or Tamil(yes..a huge population in the city knows Tamil).
Next factor is the schools.Given the fact that we have a large number of CBSE and ICSE schools most of which do not even offer it as an optional language at any level.KVs which constitute a major chunk can't do it as in any state any local language is not offered. Some others like DPS might also have something of this sort as they are throughout India. But the rest which are local ones have NO valid reason other than disinterest.(Sorry if the institution you studied in comes under this category). In Tamil Nadu I have heard that it is compulsory for all the schools irrespective of the board to offer Tamil. In case some argues saying it can be learnt at home they must know how difficult it is to coach the child at home during holidays while he/she wants to enjoy. The rest of the academic year is jam packed!
There are so many more reasons that any expert will be able to offer you or you can figure it out yourselves.
What pains me the most is that the pride of being a Kannadiga is diminishing. We are all to blame. We simply have to appreciate the steps taken by other states to ensure that their language remains strong and healthy. We need to do a lot more and I am hopeful that the government will do something.
Thankfully all is not so bleak. There is still a ray of hope. There is a population however minute that is active in promoting the language.I remember in class 5 (that is when I came to Bangalore) we had 2 teachers who took up the responsibility to teach written Kannada to students voluntarily. There was no support from the Institution. Many of us happily jumped in including some non Kannadigas. They did succeed to conduct classes for about 2 months or so and after that they found it taxing. And we being kids were extremely naughty.I didn't manage to learn anything more than a few letters but still I laud their efforts.
Also in the college where I am presently studying, there is a very strong Kannada sangha. It is one of the best managed club on the campus with a good bunch of Kannada enthusiastic youth.Their annual fest "Jhenkara - 2010" completely floored me.

There are Kannada blogs, articles in Wikipedia and lots more!!This might give us high hopes. Also we need to remember that Bangalore is NOT Karnataka. The rest of the state still respects it and it has a strong foothold.
Dear Kannada..all is not well but that doesn't mean all is lost!Everything's gonna be alright!:)

Lets Break Up!!

"I'm so sorry..I can't handle it anymore..lets break up.Its over!!".Seems too heard??Must be! Its a phenomenon  so rampant that a minimum of 2 people whom you know (Including your next door neighbour) would have 'broken up' with someone. And then there are some very skilled people who break up over and over ,again and again. Not to forget the movies which try to project the 'latest trends in society' screaming out loud saying its cool and you gotta give a party for that!!(courtesy..-LOVE AAJ KAL)
Not that I have any experience to speak of but still most of the times the reasons for this so called break up seem so trash!
"Who the hell told you that I was committed??Dude I broke up long ago because I found a much better looking girl!"
"What??You want to marry me??Oh no please..lets break up!!"

But some are pretty genuine..like cases where parents don't agree, your partners changing habits which leave you frustrated and so on.
What makes divorces different from break ups is the legal hassle. The rest..Heartaches,depression,hopelessness,anger etc remain the same. Some call it dumping.. like Humans are any piece of garbage. But whatever it is break ups seem like a recent trend. You are utopian if you haven't had a break up atleast once in life.

The reasons are innumerable! As humans we do make mistakes and making mistakes while choosing a person whom you want to spend your life with can be fatal. Some of us dust ourselves and move on while the rest can    take years together to come out of the trauma. It can jeopardies your other relationships, make you look like a moron and what not!
It is a very well known fact that we do like someone because of some chemicals that trigger in our brains. But after a while the production of this particular hormone stops!!So maybe we can blame it on biology?

But what shocks me is the numbers. And a lingering question..why didn't our previous generations do this??(So often I meant). Is it because we are an impatient generation and expect everything to be perfect in a relationship? Or is it because we can't compromise and let go of our views once in a while for the greater good??Or does it give any sense of satisfaction to do so???(for some).

What we need to learn is to not mistake infatuation for love and commit ourselves without thinking about complete future with that person. This might be difficult to do but is worth giving a try to save yourselves.
Also when the inevitable happens, we must learn to take it in our stride and force ourselves to see the truth as the way it is!

Anyway..Its your right to do it the way you think it  right.Advices are not meant to be taken!!
But a line of my own....Do ponder about what you want in life. After all nothing means its the end of your life until it is actually(physically).Commit Blunders in getting committed!!

Noetic Sciences

Most of you would have read Dan Brown's 'THE LOST SYMBOL".The book no doubt is as good as all Dan Brown's if not the best! But a particular topic that intrigued me was this-'The Noetic Sciences".At first it seemed unimaginable,a kind of fantasy but not bogus as he perfectly states that all the facts of his book are true!

To those who seem at a loss...take a look at this definition from wiki-
Noetic theory or noëtics (from Greek νοητικός "mental" from νοεῖν "to think" from νοῦς – noûs) is an alternative metaphysical philosophyconcerned with the study of mind and intuition, and its relationship with a proposed divine intellect. Among its principal purposes are the study of the effects of perceptions, beliefs, and intentions on human consciousness."

If that sounded too technical..here is more explanation-
The theory of noetics centers around the idea that the human mind is capable of affecting work or events or even doing work in the physical world. It is suggested that thought and spirit are not, in fact, imaginary, but are Bose or photon based, meaning essentially that the mind can be quantified by formulae which describe quantum materials such as light. This is a radical conclusion, as many people consider thoughts to be weightless. Noetic theory claims that just as gravity affects all matter, thoughts do as well, although to a lesser degree. Psychokinesis, more often called telekinesis, is concerned with the direct influence of mind on matter.

So it basically means that thoughts have mass however less and a congregation of similar thoughts can bring about physical changes. Thus thoughts are extremely powerful!!.
But this is not all.The most surprising thing is that from the modern physics branches out quantum physics, then particles etc that  ultimately link with noetic science which is nothing but what our ancient books say(roughly)!!(Don't ask me how as I am also in confusion. Google it out or read the book.).It is like coming in a full circle.

 Noetic sciences have 3 branches-
1.Extended Human capacities
like creativity, meditation.states of consciousness, death dying and beyond.
2.Integral Health and healing
mind body medicine, global medicine(Guess reiki falls in here)
3.Emerging world views
like indigenous practices, cultivating spiritual awareness etc.
There is even an institute for this and researches have been conducted all over for actual proof of certain things like meditation can heal diseases, about the positive energy (aura) around you etc.

However the best thing that caught my attention was the question 'Does Human soul exist?"
An experiment is performed to "weigh the Human soul" the details of which are a tad bit technical but the structure is as follows...

A dying man is placed in an incubator sort of thing that can measure weight up to micro scale.the total contents of the incubator remain the same. But it was seen that as soon as he died, there was a noticeable decrease in weight!
So does that mean soul has weight and it escapes as soon as the person dies??will it find another body for itself??does it exist first of all??all sorts of questions are raised, conclusions are also made that soul exists by some, but some oppose it vehemently!A very interesting opposition  is here...http://www.noeticsciences.co.uk/in-response-to-weighing-the-human-soul/#more-819

I used to argue a lot with my mother about the ancient philosophy because to accept something without proof seemed non scientific. But here I find proofs which are still under battle!

It makes me wonder ....should I call it "Noetic Science" or "Noetic Pseudo- Science"???

That Ideal Student

Life is a long learning process and so we all remain students..forever!But in this journey we meet people..of our kind,of not our kind nonetheless, we remember them.Whether we like it or not,to some extent our journey is always influenced by fellow travellers.
So who is considered a perfect student? What are the qualities??The reply would depend on who you are....

PARENT:

Phew!!Ideal students no more exist. Our times were glorious! We didn't waste our time roaming around like this.If we had to achieve something then we would work very hard for it.Ideal students are those who are obedient.Yes its difficult even to make our own children listen to us, we can Imagine the plight of poor teachers. If I had my way then I would make my son/ daughter realise their responsibilities.Study and work very hard!go to college, attain knowledge, discuss with teachers, friends, lecturers, visit libraries often and come straight back home!
NO bunking classes,Roaming aimlessly and spending money without the need!!

TEACHER:
Those who are serious about what they want in life and are sincere are Ideal students.I have no clue whether I will ever get to teach such a student.Teachers should be respected. They should know how difficult it is to teach. We are here to guide them.If our guidance is taken, they can do wonders in life.He/She shouldn't bunk classes, must submit assignment on time etc etc. After all we want nothing but their well being!

'A' GRADE STUDENT:

An Ideal student scores high marks.He/she never wastes time and is always doing something related to studies. No pending work for the best grades.Completely competitive and tries to top.OK..no more..I have to study now!Bye!

'AVERAGE' STUDENT:
Oh C'mon!!Gimme a break!!Are nerds ideal students??Well I don't want to be one. When will we enjoy life if we immerse ourselves into books???This will go on forever! So does that mean we must struggle all the time??Who said we are  not serious about what we wanna be!And not bunking? You mean to say we gotta sit in those dreary classes where lecturers go on and on without any interaction? Why will we attend it when we find it boring?Plus its considered so uncool to study all the time. What will my friends think of me?The last thing i want  is to be labelled as 'geek'.History has proved that we are as successful as our 'A" grade counterparts. If we are getting everything what we want then why is everyone complaining? Its my life and I will live it my way!I don't give a damn about expectations.I will end up with what is destined for me!So why the fuss??

Well..you might agree on some views and disagree on the others. If you look beyond the stereotypes you will find that anything so idealistic doesn't exist and something close would be an optimum blend of it all.

Final say..You know what you are,who you are and what is the best for you!Even without perfection things can be achieved while striving for perfection!!So shall we chuck the 'idealism'??

A Comeback!!

Well...I left my blog unattended for quite a lot of time even without notification!I have to take the complete blame because it was my own so called 'business' and carelessness. So much that I wasn't even able to login at the first attempt!!True..the blog wasn't all that successful but it was not fair on my part.Nobody abandons a baby just because he or she is not so good!So my apologies!!..SORRY RANDOM!!

So what made me do it again???Guilty conscience perhaps??No!!I'll give you the reason...EXAMS!!

There is a somehow always a connection between exams and blogs! In my case most of the material for blog comes to me only when I'm supposed to be slogging !!

And maybe also owing to the fact that my life took a complete new turn with Higher studies. What with the increased workload and competition its hard to concentrate while trying to adjust.I took solace in micro blogging!!(i. e updating status messages on facebook) But at the end of it all I realized that life is completely worthless if we are all the time worried about our GPAs and 'future'.Then I decided that if i could spent a lot of time checking on what others are doing on facebook(I admit its embarrassing! But this is what most of us do!)I can as well gather my thoughts and get some new ideas from the rest of you!!

Now is the time for some slowdown. Some time to pour out thoughts to the blog and share it with the rest of you!And to comment, discuss, criticize and take life in its stride!!As and when it comes!

Hope this spirit stays for long with me!!

Welcome back all!!(Including me!!)
